Believe it or not, the best way to deal with the mind-melting ordeal of competing on a reality show might just be working out. Just ask Dylan Efron, a standout on Season 3 of the buzzy Peacock series The Traitors, who compares the experience of competing on the show with the feeling he gets at the tail end of a feat of endurance.
‘Training helped me in The Traitors mostly for my mental health—that game is a mind-fuck,’ Efron tells MH. ‘It’s that same feeling for me as the end of a triathlon, at the end of a marathon, where you’re telling yourself, ‘I’ve got to give up.”
Efron is prepared to push through those feelings of doubt, however, thanks to a rock-solid fitness foundation. He’s a bit of a thrill-seeker who has dabbled in rock-climbing, high-lining, and free-diving along with more traditional sports and endurance challenges like triathlons and Iron Man races.
And yes—he has trained with his brother, former MH cover guy Zac. Dylan says their fitness approaches don’t exactly line up, since their goals are often totally different. That said, he believes he would come out on top in arm wrestling or a foot race.
