Check out episode 36 of Duval Rundown, hosted by Gus Logue.
Gus was joined by 1010XL radio host and college football writer Matt Hayes to discuss the Jacksonville Jaguars’ biggest positional needs and how they translate to the 2025 NFL Draft.
By the time the regular season ends, free agency passes and the draft arrives, there could be changes in draft order, team needs, and prospect rankings.
Still, Gus and Matt (and former NFL coach Dave Campo) agree that “trenches” are the biggest issue for Jacksonville. The offensive and defensive lines need upgrading, especially the former, considering Trevor Lawrence must be (better) protected.
Cornerback is a popular first-round mock selection for Jacksonville — for good reason. Travis Hunter and Will Johnson seem more than legit and Tyson Campbell desperately needs a long-term running mate.
When asked for his three favorite prospect fits for the Jaguars, though, Matt returned to the OL concerns and focused on the consensus top blocker in the class.
“I would start with [LSU left tackle] Will Campbell. That would be the first guy I’d start with.
“I don’t know that I would- you know what? I don’t want to get into the one, two, three. I just want to zero in on one guy.
“If you’re at that top with the first pick, or if you can trade down and get the second or third pick, and you know that Will Campbell will be there, and you can get a pick 10 through 16 or whatever it is.
“Don’t be ridiculous. Do the smart thing and do what you need to do to help your franchise. And more importantly, to help the guy you just paid $275 million to.
“You heard it here. Don’t be ridiculous.”
