Durham Cricket have announced all-rounder Scott Borthwick has signed a two-year contract extension to become a player-coach ahead of the 2025 season.
The 34-year-old, who re-joined Durham in 2021 for a second spell, will step down from his role as club captain.
In a statement Durham said Borthwick will now play “an integral part” in developing players from the professional teams, academy and pathway squads. He will remain available for Durham in all formats until at least the end of the 2026 season.
After coming through the club’s academy, Borthwick was a member of the Durham squad that won three County Championships and the one-day trophy, while playing his part in guiding Durham back to Division One in 2023.
