British tennis star Emma Raducanu suffered a 7-6(6), 6-4 defeat to Czechia’s Karolina Muchova in the second round of the Dubai Tennis Championships on Tuesday.
Raducanu had ended her four-match losing streak at the event in United Arab Emirates on Sunday when she beat world No. 29 Maria Sakkari, which she later said made her “really proud.”
The 22-year-old, who entered the tournament as a wildcard, did not produce the same performance in her next match.
She appeared to be crying and breathing heavily when Muchova took a 2-0 lead in the opening set. The Brit was able to force a tiebreak and even earn a set point.
However, Muchova closed out the set before taking the second to earn a hard-fought victory.
