Drury University will launch its Master in Athletic and Sports Administration program, aimed at equipping professionals with the skills and expertise needed to excel in a rapidly growing sports industry, this fall.
The program offers a combination of online, in-person and blended coursework. It will prepare those who want to be athletic directors, sports marketing directors, and facility managers.
Allin Sorenson, associate provost at Drury, said the new program builds on the success of Drury’s undergraduate sports leadership certificate.
“Centered in the rich recreational landscape of the Ozarks, Drury’s Master in Athletic and Sports Administration reflects the evolving demands of the sports and recreation industries, preparing leaders with the strategic skills needed for success across all sectors of athletics,” Sorenson said in a Thursday news release.
The curriculum of the 30-credit hour program includes leadership, ethical decision-making, project management, social media strategy, and legal considerations in sports.
Internships and an applied capstone project provide hands-on experience, enabling students to build professional networks and tailor their learning to specific career goals.
“Drury’s Master in Athletic and Sports Administration allows professionals to blend passion for sports with the critical leadership skills needed to excel in the sports industry,” said Regina Waters, director of the Leadership Collaborative.
“Whether you’re looking to lead teams, manage facilities, or create high-impact sports programs in your community, this interdisciplinary degree develops the strategic insights needed for success.”
There are graduate assistant positions and federal financial aid available to help eligible students cover tuition.
The program’s structure allows students to complete their degree in just two years, with most courses offered in accelerated eight-week sessions.
Enrollment for fall 2025 is now open. For more information, including admission requirements, tuition assistance options, and program details, visit drury.edu/graduate/sports-administration.
