The Johnson Fitness & Wellness store in North Bethesda remained open for business Friday after a driver crashed a car into the façade of the building Thursday night, according to store manager Barry Fig.
“Luckily, he was okay. The store … not so much,” Fig told MoCo360 Friday morning. The store sells fitness equipment.

At approximately 7:25 p.m. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) crews responded to the fitness store at 12229 Nebel St. for the report of a vehicle that had struck a building, MCFRS Assistant Chief David Pazos wrote on social media.
After arriving at the scene, crews transported the “elderly” driver to an area hospital with “non serious injuries,” Pazos wrote.
According to Fig, fragments of the car and glass flew nearly 30 feet into the store during the crash. No customers were inside and the lone employee was not injured, Fig said.
In addition to the building façade, one unoccupied vehicle was damaged in the crash, Pazos said.
Fig said the store is cleaning up the debris and boarding up windows. A structural engineer also inspected the store and determined it was safe to remain open, he said.
Fig estimates repairs to the building’s windows and front door could take four to six weeks to complete.
