MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – As we count down the hours to Christmas, dozens of young basketball players got a special surprise.
More than 30 young athletes from around the 901 took part in a special Christmas Eve basketball camp in Cordova.
The players got special coaching from some of the best in Memphis, including Grizzlies star point guard, Ja Morant.
Organizers say this event was all about giving back to the community.
“People are here to support you, they’re here to give you opportunities, people are here to love on your right whether that is at home or if that is in the community,” said Trey Draper, co-founder of Home Team Hoops. “We want to give people the opportunity to know the City of Memphis is rallying behind them and that you have guys like myself who are from here who are now in the position to give back.”
The kids at Tuesday’s camp were hand-selected to take part in Home Team Hoops.
In addition to the camp, those taking part also went home with swag bags from Gatorade, Nike, and much more.
