CHARDON, Ohio (WXIX) – An Ohio woman’s Facebook post is going viral as she hopes to find the person she says is responsible for hitting her dog with a golf club.
Jennifer Sorce Evans says she had to take her dog, Milo, to the ER after finding him bloody and unable to open his left eye on Aug. 4.
Milo’s injury was caused by a golfer who was playing that day around 12 p.m. at Chardon Lakes Golf Course, according to Evans’ Facebook post. Chardon, Ohio, is a little more than 30 miles east of Cleveland.
In the social media post, Evans said the man “trespassed” into her family’s yard to retrieve his ball that went beyond the course boundary. Evans later said anyone afraid of dogs should not go into someone’s yard to get a ball if they see dogs outside.
Milo, described as friendly, approached the man, but the man swung his golf club at the dog, hitting Milo on the left side of his head, she explained.
Evans says she heard Milo’s “horrible shriek” after being hit.
“Milo was not threatening or even barking,” Evans wrote on Facebook. “By the time I went to the back yard Milo was already back at the house, and I was busy tending to him so I didn’t confront the guy.”
Milo’s nose was bleeding, and he would not open his eyes, Evans said. Meanwhile, she says the golfer and the group of four he was with continued playing after the incident.
Milo was taken to the ER vet, where Evans says they got fortunate news that Milo only suffered soft tissue injuries and should be okay.
The police and Chardon Lakes Golf Course officials tried to find the foursome who might have been playing on the course around the time Milo was injured, according to Evans.
Her Facebook post said a couple of people who were contacted “of course” denied any dog-related incidents.
“So now this jerk will not be held accountable in any way, and Chardon Lakes says they aren’t responsible and won’t pay the vet bill,” Evans wrote.
Evans said she posted what happened to Milo on Facebook with the hopes of trying to find the person responsible.
