Schedule video for the 2024 Illinois Fighting Illini football team
Here is who Illinois will play in the 2024 college football season, from its opener vs. Eastern Illinois to the season finale at Wrigley Field.
The bye week comes at a good time for the Illinois Fighting Illini football team.
The Fighting Illini (6-3) are having a solid season, but have lost two in a row after a 6-1 start. Illinois lost to No. 1 Oregon before the Illini lost their first home game of the season, against red-hot Minnesota. Despite this, the Illini are poised to make a run toward a bowl game.

Coach Bret Bielema and the Illini come back from the bye with three final games — at home against Michigan State before two road games at Rutgers and vs Northwestern at Wrigley Field in Chicago.
Here’s all you need to know about Illinois’ schedule in Week 11 and onward:
The Fighting Illini will not play Saturday, which serves as the second of two byes of the season. Illinois also had a bye in Week 6.
Every team in the Football Bowl Subdivision gets two byes this season because of an NCAA by-law that prohibits FBS teams from playing a game before the first Thursday before Labor Day.
