Alexis Ohanian is raising the bar yet again for dad goals! The entrepreneur and proud father is known for his endless support and joy in nurturing his daughters’ curiosity. And recently, he took that dad pride to a new level, blending his love for fatherhood with a vital message on civic duty.
Serena Williams’ husband took to his Instagram to share a video revealing that he exercised his voting rights as election season unfolds in full swing in the United States. Ohanian can be seen in a black outfit with an ‘I Voted’ sticker imprinted on it. But what caught the attention was the invaluable lesson to his daughter Olympia, who seems to be expressing some critical thinking abilities at a young age.
Captioning the video, Ohanian wrote, “Olympia’s big question last night was about voting,” emphasizing the awareness of the kid despite her young age. Continuing further, he reflected upon the response which speaks volumes of the American electoral system. “I explained what a miraculous (YOUNG) experiment our republic is in the timeline of humanity (and we didn’t get it perfect from the start but we are always working to improve it – like fighting to make sure girls — especially Black girls like her — could vote) and how RARE a society with prolonged free and fair elections AND peaceful transitions of power is. Do not take these for granted,” the ‘Business Dad’ shared. This can also be seen as an attempt by Ohanian to motivate citizens to cast their voting rights.

In a similar post he shared on X, revealed his happiness after casting a vote. “Alright, go vote, feels good,” he said. This, meanwhile, is not the first time when Ohanian has opened up about political affairs or has shared his take on elections. The Reddit co-founder has time and again reflected on the importance of voting, and highlighting the things people should keep in mind while choosing their representative.

In 2023, Ohanian highlighted why making a decisive choice matters while casting vote. “Who you vote for matters. And it’s more important than ever that the folks in office are at least proficient in technology and are spending time with builders to understand the potential paths so that we can get the best possible outcome for America & humanity,” he wrote on X. But while Ohanian is preaching some great lesson to his daughter and is highlighting the importance of voting, her wife, Serena Williams, keeps herself away from political affairs.
Serena Williams has brought great pride to her country. The tennis legend has dazzled on the courts and has amassed 23 Grand Slams and an Olympic Gold under her belt. However, when it comes to casting a vote, Williams prefers taking a backseat and it is due to religious reasons.

The former American player is a follower of Jehovah’s Witness which does not allow her to take part in the voting process. In 2016, the star player herself revealed this in an interview and said, “I don’t get involved in politics. I don’t vote. It goes back to my religion, and I’m not involved at all in that political scene.” She shared similar sentiments in 2008 as well, despite showcasing her happiness about Barrack Obama leading the presidential race that year.
“I don’t really get involved in political affairs because of the way I was brought up and being a Jehovah’s Witness, but it’s exciting to see someone like Barack Obama have a chance to lead one of the world’s biggest nations,” she had said. For now, it would be interesting to see if the fans actually get motivated by Ohanian’s latest message and take part in huge numbers in the elections.
