GREEN BAY – It’s easy to spot Santa lurking around Green Bay throughout the holiday season — the red suit sorta stands out. However, if you were around Lambeau Field earlier in the day on Monday, you may have seen an NFL legend also dressed up as Kris Kringle.
Prior to the Green Bay Packers defeating the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football, former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce was seen visiting homes around Lambeau Field, dressed as Santa Claus.
Following his retirement, Kelce joined ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown team this year to help with pre-game and post-game coverage for Monday Night Football. He was joined by fellow ESPN colleagues Scott Van Pelt and Stanford Steve during his adventure around Lambeau Field, who were both dressed as elves.
The trio walked around the neighborhood, greeting fans and taking in the Wisconsin culture. They even ran into the Grinch, who was dressed in a David Bakhtiari jersey.
“Apparently, they play cribbage in Wisconsin. Just get absolutely wrecked and play cribbage,” Van Pelt said when the crew visited one of the tailgating homes in Green Bay.
Kelce was in a giving mood throughout the day, handing out Packers-themed clothing, as well as pieces of cheese once he arrived to Lambeau. And of course, Kelce had to take a bite of a cheese wheel during coverage.
“I want to go to that house,” Van Pelt says towards the end of ESPN’s video, as he points towards Lambeau Field. “I don’t know if I brought enough gifts for that house,” Kelce said.
Van Pelt switched out to his traditional TV outfit during coverage for the game. Kelce, on the other hand, kept his Santa outfit on.
