Grade 1 winner Gaming worked a bullet Friday in his first drill since his troubled eighth-place finish in the Grade 3 Southwest at Oaklawn on Jan. 25. The Bob Baffert trainee covered five furlongs in 59.4 seconds, the fastest time of six at that distance over the Santa Anita dirt.
Gaming has a 5: 2-1-1 record so far, with wins in his maiden special weight debut and the Del Mar Futurity (G1). He also finished second behind stablemate Citizen Bull in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile in November. As of Sunday Gaming was 33-1 at Caesars Sportsbook in Las Vegas. He closed at 70-1 in the fourth Kentucky Derby Future Wager pool through Churchill Downs, which closed Sunday.

Calling Card (Complexity) worked five furlongs in 1:02.2 at Turfway Park on Friday morning. It was the second fastest of seven works at the distance. His previous work was six days ago going five furlongs at Fair Grounds. In his last start he placed eighth in the Lecomte (G3) going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Fair Grounds on Jan. 18 for trainer Mike Maker.
Gaming (Game Winner), a Grade 1 winner (2024 Del Mar Futurity), worked five furlongs in 59.4 seconds at Santa Anita on Friday morning. It was the fastest of six works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed eighth in the Southwest (G3) going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Oaklawn on Jan. 25 for trainer Bob Baffert.

Grande (Curlin) worked four furlongs in 48.3 seconds at Palm Beach Downs on Thursday morning. It was the fastest of nine works at the distance. His previous work was nine days ago going four furlongs at Palm Beach Downs. In his last start he won a maiden race going one mile on the main track at Gulfstream Park on Jan. 11 for trainer Todd Pletcher.
He’s Not Joking (Practical Joke) worked five furlongs in 1:00.9 at Palm Meadows on Thursday morning. It was the fourth fastest of seven works at the distance. His previous work was nine days ago going four furlongs at Palm Meadows. In his last start he placed fifth in the Holy Bull (G3) going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Gulfstream Park on Feb. 1 for trainer Josie Carroll.

Naughty Rascal (Rogueish) worked four furlongs in 49.4 seconds at Tampa Bay Downs on Wednesday morning. It was the ninth fastest of 24 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed sixth in the Sam F. Davis going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Tampa Bay Downs on Feb. 8 for trainer Gerald Bennett.
