Champion 2-year-old Citizen Bull, who won the Grade 3 Robert B. Lewis on Feb. 1, worked Saturday morning for the third time since that victory. The Bob Baffert-trained son of Into Mischief, a two-time Grade 1 winner, worked five furlongs in 1:00.6. He is possible for the Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby (G1) on April 5 according to a Friday news release from Churchill Downs. As of Wednesday, he was the 9-1 second choice at Caesars Sportsbook in Las Vegas.
Another two-time Grade 1 winner, Chancer McPatrick, was also on the Saturday work tab. Unraced since running sixth behind Citizen Bull in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, the Chad Brown trainee worked four furlongs in 48.8 seconds at Payson Park. According to the Friday release from Churchill Downs, Chancer McPatrick is possible to make his sophomore debut in the Tampa Bay Derby (G3) on March 8. As of Wednesday he was 30-1 at Caesars Sportsbook.
