ORLANDO, Fla. – Delta Airlines is still dealing with cancellations and delays as a result of a computer outage that impacted systems worldwide last week.
Delta Chief Executive Ed Bastian said in a statement Sunday that flight cancellations continued as the airline tried to recover its systems and restore operations, saying the pause in Delta’s operations resulted in more than 3,500 Delta and Delta Connection scrubbed flights.
“The technology issue occurred on the busiest travel weekend of the summer, with our booked loads exceeding 90%, limiting our re-accommodation capabilities,” Bastian wrote. “I want to apologize to every one of you who have been impacted by these events.”
Orlando International Airport’s flight tracker shows more than 2 dozen flights are currently canceled through Monday morning at 3 a.m.
Delta is offering a travel voucher for travelers who have to make a change to their itinerary because of cancellations. The waiver must be used on or before July 27. More information is on the Delta website.
United Airlines is also facing cancellation issues because of the outage, and they are also issuing a travel waiver for flights that took place between July 19 and July 21 to 13 airports, including Orlando International. Information is on the United Airlines website.
Travelers flying in and out of MCO should check their flight status before going to the airport.
