NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – New Orleans shoppers flocked to Magazine Street on Tuesday morning (Dec. 24) to get their last-minute holiday gifts.
Businesses told Fox 8 that delivery delays have impacted their holiday sales season.
Magic Box Toys owner Alison Todd said that late FedEx packages limited her inventory of wrapping paper and toys. She said she was told her packages were stuck on the north shore.
“(FedEx has) had a hard time this week, but we’re making it work,” she said.
FedEx confirmed to Fox 8 on Monday night that it’s had delays delivering packages and has brought in additional resources to speed up the process.
Todd said it’s left her money in “limbo,” but she said she’s optimistic.
“You know, there are kids that have birthdays on Jan. 2. We’ll be able to sell those toys, too,” she said.
At nearby Stella Dallas boutique, manager Madison Silva said the store also has had packages delayed. But the seemingly widespread delivery issues have helped drive foot traffic to the store.
“Stuff isn’t coming in on time. So then, people are coming in to us, trying to figure out, like, what they’re looking for,” she said.
FedEx said anyone with questions about their deliveries should go to FedEx.com for more information.
