Deli Gambling Bust Leaves 4 Arrested On Long Island: Police
COPIAGUE, NY — Four people were arrested at a Long Island deli for gambling violations after a raid by police and town officials on Saturday, according to Suffolk County police.
Police said community complaints sparked a compliance check at Sabor Latino Deli in Copiague around 4 p.m. Police said that during the raid, they saw patrons gambling on the premises utilizing illegal gambling machines.
The deli’s owner, Iris Romero, 44, of Copiague, was charged with possession of gambling devices and an employee, 17, was arrested and charged with possession of gambling devices and promoting gambling and criminal nuisance, police said.
Two patrons Ramon Rosario-Perez, 54, of Brooklyn, and Osbin Chincilla-Garcia, 49, of West Babylon, were arrested and charged with loitering for the purpose of gambling., police said.
They are all slated to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip at a later date.
