We are excited to announce a renewed partnership with the fine folks and handicappers at 1/ST BET. Jeremy Plonk and Jeff Siegel will be sharing their expertise on a weekly basis to pass along some ponies that they like for races at various tracks around the country, including Del Mar.
For this Sunday, November 3 article, Jeff Siegel shares everything you need to know for today’s racing card at Del Mar.
Del Mar – 3rd Race – Post: 1:30 PT. Degree of confidence: A-
Top Selection/Prime Play: 9-Slick (Ire)
Backups: none
Forecast: Slick (Ire), an Irish-bred juvenile filly, makes her U.S. debut after displaying considerable promise in her only prior outing in Ireland a couple of months ago. In that race, the daughter of Oasis Dream finished an excellent second despite racing greenly with a less-than-ideal trip, after which she was privately purchased and sent to trainer Philip D’Amato. For her new connections, she has trained extremely well to appear fit and ready, and with Frankie Dettori taking the call, she should be more than capable of handling this moderate maiden field and then go on to bigger and better things. Let’s make her a strong win play and rolling exotic single.
Del Mar – 7th race – Post: 3:30 PT. Degree of confidence: B+
Top Selection/Prime Play: 3-Mizzyaan
Backups: 11-Runamileinmyshoes
Forecast: After being imported from Dubai, Mizzyaan has steadily improved for trainer Michael McCarthy, and after an impressive recent maiden score at Santa Anita, looks ready to win again on the one-level raise in this turf miler for sophomore fillies. The daughter of Justify likes to settle early and blast home, and in a field that should offer enough pace to complement her style, she looks well-spotted for a repeat score. In a competitive affair and at 4-1 on the morning line, she offers decent value in the win pool and in the various rolling exotics.
