No. 4 seed Ekaterina Alexandrova captured her fifth career title with a 6-2, 3-6, 7-5 win over fifth-seeded Dayana Yastremska of Ukraine on Sunday in the final of the Upper Austria Ladies Linz.
Alexandrova, of Russia, had two aces and benefited from eight double faults to dispatch Yastremska in 2 hours, 11 minutes.
The victory especially was sweet for Alexandrova, who settled for two runner-up finishes at the tournament in the previous six years.
Yastremska has not won a tournament since defeating Caroline Garcia in Strasbourg, France, in 2019.
Singapore Tennis Open
Second seed Elise Mertens of Belgium claimed her ninth career singles title with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Ann Li in the final of the tournament.
Mertens, 29, fired four aces and won 75 percent (39 of 52) of her first serves to topple Li in 1 hour, 22 minutes.
The singles tournament win was Mertens’ first since she captured the Monastir title in October 2023.
