David Beckham knighthood rumours swell with King and William links
He sat in a throne on his wedding day and has one of the most famous families in the world.
Yet it is David Beckham’s increasing closeness to another famous family that has revived the possibility that he might be getting closer than ever to receiving a knighthood.
So far, the great honour has proved elusive for the former England captain.
His quest was not helped by a series of emails leaked in 2017 which appeared to show the footballer’s frustration at being passed over for a knighthood in 2013.
The private missives, which Beckham dismissed at the time as inaccurate and misleading, railed against the “unappreciative” honours committee, with a few expletives thrown in for good measure.
