Real Madrid defender David Alaba is going to start getting minutes in league and Champions League matches to regain full match fitness, according to a report from MARCA.
Alaba — who got sidelined with an anterior cruciate ligament injury in 2023, has missed a year of football due to the long recovery process of this problem, and although he has made the squad list in each of Real Madrid’s last two games, he has yet to play a single minute of football this season.
Real Madrid believe that the team’s comparatively favourable schedule in the next few weeks will give Alaba the chance to get some fitness and become a player that could be of good use to Real Madrid in their recent struggles.
Real Madrid have clearly struggled in defense this season, and even though Alaba was not having the best of seasons before his injury, his return, at the very least, would be good for the club’s depth chart in his position.
