The Las Vegas Raiders’ asking price for Davante Adams could keep the star wide receiver on the trading block longer than both parties hope.

Per NFL insider Jordan Schultz, teams interested in trading for Adams believe it’s “unrealistic” for Las Vegas to ask for a second-round pick while also having to take on Adams’ entire 2024 salary.

Schultz also noted that “there doesn’t seem to be a team desperate enough” to meet the Raiders’ requirements for Adams and that Las Vegas would likely have to “give in on something.”

The Raiders are reportedly asking teams interested in Adams to take on the entirety of his contract for the 2024 season, which is nearly $17 million. The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported on Saturday that there are a handful of teams interested in Adams, but would need Las Vegas to take some of his salary.

“Teams like the Bills and Kansas City Chiefs are monitoring the situation and willing to jump in if the Raiders are willing to pay some of Adams’ contract,” Russini wrote. “They see him as a one-year rental.”

A second-round pick alone certainly wouldn’t be too much to give up for a veteran like Adams, but his hefty salary will be a major roadblock if the Raiders aren’t willing to eat some of it.

Of course, the Raiders have the option to not trade Adams, but at this point, they’ll likely want to get some pieces to help them in the future amid a 2-3 start.

Adams has missed the past two games while dealing with a hamstring injury. In his first three games of the year, he had 209 receiving yards and a touchdown, and he’s coming off a season in which he recorded 1,144 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.

When healthy, the 31-year-old would still be of service to a team looking to compete for a Super Bowl.
