Two marquee wide receivers will not be on the field for NFL Week 5.
Davante Adams is officially listed as out for the Las Vegas Raiders’ clash with the Denver Broncos.
Malik Nabers, who has been one of the breakout star rookies of the early season, will miss the New York Giants’ trip to face the Seattle Seahawks.
Replacing Adams and Nabers at the fantasy football level will be more difficult than usual since four teams have byes.
Below is a look at all of the significant injury news that will affect fantasy football matchups in Week 5.
Davante Adams Out With Hamstring Injury
Davante Adams is officially out of Sunday’s game with a hamstring injury, but his injury has not been the topic of conversation this week.
There is rampant trade speculation regarding the All-Pro wide receiver, but no move has happened as of Friday afternoon.
“He’s rehabbing, and the rest of us are focused on Denver,” Pierce said.
The Raiders managed to win last week without Adams thanks to a spread-out attack on offense.
Jakobi Meyers and Tre Tucker each caught five passes, while Tucker scored a rushing touchdown. They would be the two primary waiver-wire candidates off the Raiders roster to directly replace Adams.
Tight end Brock Bowers only had two catches for 19 yards in Week 4, but he is an intriguing waiver-wire pickup, if available, because he had 40-plus yards in Weeks 1-3.
Green Bay’s Dontayvious Wicks, Cleveland’s Jerry Jeudy, Wan’Dale Robinson of the New York Giants and Carolina’s Xavier Legette are among the potential replacements for Adams outside of Vegas.
Malik Nabers Out With Concussion
Malik Nabers did not get out of concussion protocol before the Giants left for Seattle.
The rookie wide out has been a huge part of the Giants offense, and in turn, one of the top point producers early in the fantasy football season.
Nabers recorded at least 60 receiving yards in each of his first four NFL games and he had two 10-catch, 100-yard performances.
The Giants will turn to Wan’Dale Robinson to pick up some of the workload in the passing game without Nabers.
Darius Slayton and Jalin Hyatt are next up on the depth chart after Robinson, but both of them are not viable fantasy football options for Week 5.
Robinson is the only Giants player to trust across any fantasy football format. He had 18 receptions in the last two weeks with Nabers on the field.
Daniel Jones has a built-in chemistry with Robinson, and while he will have to throw to other players, it is too risky to trust anyone else on the roster.
Meyers and Tucker from Las Vegas, Wicks, Jeudy and Legette are among some of the potential replacements for Nabers, just like they are for Nabers.
Unfortunately for fantasy players, there will be a drop off in points at the WR1 spot regardless of who replaces Nabers.
