Danish Davis Cup captain Frederik Løchte is very confident before the clash with Serbia in Copenhagen which starts Friday afternoon and says Denmark has got the strength in numbers to win th tournament.
“We have a strength in numbers that we have probably never enjoyed before. We have quality players across the line. Now we have reached the point where we have the opportunity to win the whole thing if it goes our way”, said Frederik Løchte on the press conference before the match.
The Danish team is further boosted by the fact that the players, Holger Rune, Elmer Møller and August Holmgren are very young and still have long careers ahead of the them.
“No one on our team is close to being in their thirties, so I don’t expect this team to peak for another five or six years. That’s not to say we’re content to just be there now. We play to win now”.
Serbia is handicapped going into the match with the absence of Novak Djokovic and Dusan Lajovic who are both injured and Frederik Løchte feels the Danes have great chances of pulling an upset in front of 10.000 spectators at the Royal Arena.
“I think its going to be a great spectacle. Its of course a shame that Djokovic, perhaps the best player of all time, isn´t able to be here, but the Serbs still have a strong squad and I expect a very even match”, says Løchte.
The match will start at 16.00 CET in the Royal Arena in Copenhagen.
