Danielle Collins is seeking to return to winning ways at the 2024 Guadalajara Open. She’s the second seed and one of the favorites for the title this week at the WTA 500 event in Mexico. She received a bye in the first round. Collins has enjoyed the best season of her career in 2024, underpinned by winning the WTA 1000 in her home state in Florida during the spring hard-court season.

She would return to the Top 10 during the clay swing. However, Collins has seen some mixed results since the Paris Olympics, where she lost in the quarterfinal to Iga Swiatek. She failed to win a match in each of her last two tournaments, including at her last-ever US Open, where she was stunned by Caroline Dolehide in the first round. 

Olivia Gadecki came through qualifying at the 2024 Guadalajara Open and notched just her second WTA main draw win this season when she defeated Collins’ compatriot and former US Open champion Sloane Stephens in the first round.

Gadecki played an almost perfect match against the American veteran, taking just an hour and 26 minutes to win 6-4, 6-3. In the victory, the Australian hammered six aces and averaged at least 65% of first-serve points won (20/31) while converting five of 12 break points.
