24 hours after the news broke out on November 23, the New York Giants waived off the QB Daniel Jones. Jones requested his release from the Giants on Friday after he was benched in favor of backup Tommy DeVito. Few players like Saquon Barkley got emotional and attacked the team for letting him go in the middle of the season. But things have been fine for the QB and the team. It has been friendly. Now, an insider has opened up about the future of the signal-caller.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter revealed on Instagram that Jones probably would sign up with a team that is a playoff contender. There are teams like the Raiders and Panthers who need a quarterback. But he doesn’t want to sign with them. Notably, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler listed the Las Vegas Raiders as a “sensible option” for Jones. But the signal-caller may not be interested in that due to their 2-8 record. While his thinking is logical, things aren’t looking good for him, though.
There are very few teams like the Chargers and Ravens that can sign Daniel Jones up, but there are little chances of him playing on the field for them. He would mostly be in the position of a third-string or a backup quarterback. His NFL record of 6 years with 24 wins, 44 losses, and 1 tie also isn’t a plus factor. In fact, it raises more questions about his ability as a starter.

Vinnie Iyer of The Sporting News recently put together a list of teams that could be interested in Jones’ services, and the Los Angeles Chargers made the cut. But the Chargers don’t have a shaky starting quarterback Justin Herbert is going to be the guy for a long time.
On the other hand, the Baltimore Ravens have their franchise quarterback in Lamar Jackson. However, the depth behind him is a concern, with 38-year-old Josh Johnson as the backup. Bringing in Daniel Jones could be an interesting move to keep the team competitive and add some depth. There’s another factor as well.
Schefter also revealed that no team was ready to accept his remaining $11.8 million for this season with the $23 million injury clause. In all likelihood, he would be signed on a 1-year contract, if any deal is finalized.
The question now is which team will be ready to sign him up. As reported by ESPN, Jones met with Giants president and owner John Mara and had multiple conversations with coach Brian Daboll on Friday morning. The two sides mutually agreed that it “would be best for him and for the team” to move on, Mara said in a statement.
In his first comments since the benching, Jones said on Thursday that he wanted to remain the starter, but the team told him that with its record, it wanted to make a change at this point of the season, regardless of whether he was willing to address his $23 million injury guarantee. The QB is in a tough spot now. He wouldn’t get too many options to choose from. Daboll is caught in a crossfire after this development at the Giants.

Surprising revelations are coming out now after the QB was released. The Giants had asked him to take a pay cut before benching him, but he didn’t agree. They later parted ways mutually. But things have turned worse for Brian Daboll.
His friend and former Giants RB Barkley came out with shots at the HC. He even called out his handling and said, “It didn’t work for me over there, and I’m doing well over here.” If you think that was tough, here’s another jibe from another analyst. It’s much meaner.
Rob Parker also attacked the coach on Fox Sports Radio on November 22 and said, “He could not fix Daniel Jones. So, I don’t know. He might have to take quarterback Whisperer off of his resume cuz it didn’t work.” There are many reputations at risk now. While Daniel Jones has already taken a hit, the Giants franchise might also suffer with such antics.
