The NBA has announced the participants in the 3-point contest, which will take place during All-Star weekend next week. The competition will happen Saturday, Feb. 15, as one of the three skills events on that day.
The field is highlighted by two-time defending champ Damian Lillard, who will be aiming for a three-peat. Lillard has a chance to join Larry Bird and Craig Hodges as the only players to win the competition three consecutive times.
The participants in the contest will be:
Jalen Brunson, New York Knicks: 39.7% on 5.8 3PA
Cade Cunningham, Detroit Pistons: 35.4% on 6.4 3PA
Darius Garland, Cleveland Cavaliers: 42.9% on 6.9 3PA
Tyler Herro, Miami Heat: 39.3% on 9.7 3PA
Buddy Hield, Golden State Warriors: 37.1% on 7 3PA
Cam Johnson, Brooklyn Nets: 41.7% on 7.7 3PA
Damian Lillard, Milwaukee Bucks: 37.9% on 8.9 3PA
Norman Powell, Los Angeles Clippers: 43.1% on 7.9 3PA
Lillard is the most experienced of the 3-point field and will join the competition for the fifth time in his career.
Hield, the 3-point champ in 2020, will take on the challenge for the third time in his career, while Herro and Brunson will participate for the second time. Cunningham, Garland, Johnson and Powell are all first-time participants.
Lillard, Brunson, Cunningham, Garland and Herro will also play in the All-Star Game on Sunday as part of the official roster.
