Australian Open semifinalist Ben Shelton will kick off his 2025 Dallas Open bid against dangerous Aussie Aleksandar Vukic, while fellow American Alex Michelsen battles British left-hander Cameron Norrie on Tuesday.
(4) Ben Shelton vs. Aleksandar Vukic
This is a tricky opening match for Ben Shelton. The American started his season in the most impressive fashion, blasting his way to the semifinals of the Australian Open and earning a career-high ranking of No. 13 in the world. Still, Aleksandar Vukic is not an ideal first opponent at the Dallas Open. While the Aussie didn’t perform as well in Melbourne as Shelton did, he still played well to make the third round.
This will be the first encounter between Shelton and Vukic. As with many of Shelton’s matches, the outcome will be heavily influenced by his serving performance. Shelton wields one of the biggest serves on tour; when he’s serving well, he is extremely difficult to break. Look for this one to be a highly entertaining first-round match.

(7) Alex Michelsen vs. Cam Norrie
Like his American compatriot, Alex Michelsen has earned a career-high ranking on the back of his outstanding performance at the Australian Open. The-20 year-old sits at No. 36 in the world following his run to the round of 16 in Melbourne. Michelsen knocked off two seeds en route to the fourth round, Stefanos Tsitsipas (No. 12) and Karen Khachanov (No. 19). He eventually fell to top Aussie Alex de Minaur.
Michelsen’s star is on the rise. He is still working on adding more consistency to his game, but with each passing tournament he seems to get better and better. His first-round opponent is the British veteran Cameron Norrie. The 29-year-old has had a rough start to the year, as he comes into Dallas with a 2-3 record. That includes a first-round loss to Italy’s Matteo Berrettini in Melbourne.
This is the first meeting between Michelsen and Norrie. Given their respective form and the fact that Michelsen has home-court advantage, look for the American to slide into the second round without much difficulty.
