The Dallas Cowboys have one of the most ravenous fan bases in all of football. Their fans can’t get enough and there are a lot of them. And Dallas always moves the needle in several different media formats. On Thursday Night Football against the New York Giants, the Cowboys once again proved that they are one of the most popular brands in all of sports.
The Amazon Prime broadcast etched its place in sports media history, as the Cowboys defeated the Giants 20-15. The game averaged 16.22 million viewers, an all-time high for Thursday Night Football on Amazon Prime. It also means it’s the most streamed NFL regular season game in history. The game reeled in a peak audience of more than 18 million viewers on the broadcast for the second time in three weeks. It also hit many new all-time marks across critical demographics, according to a release tweeted out on Friday night from Albert Breer.
Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lamb led the way for them, hauling in seven catches for 98 yards and a touchdown. Dallas running back Rico Dowdle had 11 carries for 46 yards. Giants rookie receiver Malik Nabers continues to dominate. He hauled in 12 catches for 115 yards and no touchdowns. Nabers had to leave the game late in the fourth quarter after suffering a concussion. He was trying to haul in a catch while dragging his feet in bounds, but crashed to the ground face mask first.
Unfortunately for Cowboys fans, they had to deal with a number of injuries on Thursday night as well. Star linebacker Micah Parsons and defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence both are banged up. Dallas head coach Mike McCarthy revealed that both of their injuries are actually worse than they initially expected. So, we’ll have to see how long both players are out. They’re two of the most important players on their defensive unit, so the sooner, the better for Dallas fans.
Up next, the Cowboys will face the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, Sept. 6th. With the win, they moved to 2-2 on the 2024 campaign. The New York Giants dropped to 1-3 overall.
