AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Golf courses around the CSRA were not immune to Helene’s impact, changing the field of play in some cases.  

We were able to get our News 12 drone over the Patch on Thursday to get a firsthand look at all the damage. 

An estimated 350 to 400 trees fell at the Patch from Helene. 

Believe it or not, they actually opened back up on Oct. 8. 

They only have nine holes open to play. 

To get your nine in, you’ll play the first hole and then seven through 14. 

Many fairways and tee boxes were impacted and why many holes still remain closed. 

“If you look back over that way, you used to not be able to see Wrightsboro Road from our front entrance here. Now you can see all the cars on Wrightsboro Road. It’s a different look, a different display,” said Ira Miller, general manager for Augusta Municipal Golf Course. 

They do say if your ball goes into an area with downed trees, you’ll have to leave it and play it as a lost ball. 

They open up at 8 a.m. daily and issue the last cart at 3 p.m.
