Fresh from winning the 2026 ICC T20 Africa Sub-Regional Qualifiers C, Nigeria’s male senior cricket team, the Yellow Greens, have continued their unbeaten run at the ILCT20 Continent Cup in Rwanda with two wins so far in two games, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Nigeria secured a 29-run win over Botswana at the Gahanga Cricket Oval on Thursday to mark the second of the tournament, having beaten hosts Rwanda by six wickets in their opening game on Wednesday.
While Wednesday’s win over Rwanda was by DLS method (reduced over), Thursday’s triumph over Botswana was thrilling, as captain Sylvester Okpe and Olayinka Olaleye delivered 45 runs each just as Peter Aho grabbed three wickets in the second innings.
Botswana’s choice to bowl first in the game didn’t turn out to their advantage, as Nigeria posted 185 runs for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs.
Player of The Match, Danladi Isaac, who delivered 28 runs from 19 balls also got two wickets in the second innings just as Aho’s three plus another one from Ridwan Abdulkareem dismissed the Botswanans at 156 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs.
The Yellow Greens will hope to continue their impressive run at the tournament on Friday (today) when they file out against Uganda.
The four teams in the tournament will play one another three times each before the top two teams go up against each other in the final next Saturday.
