IN A determined bid to rejuvenate the dwindling popularity of cricket in Jamaica, The Cricket Cave is taking an innovative approach to making Test matches at Sabina Park a hub of entertainment and engagement.

The brainchild of Atishai Mansingh and David Henriques, the Cricket Cave will once again roll out its innovative activities during the West Indies vs Bangladesh second Test match which bowls off on Saturday at Sabina Park.

Following the overwhelming success of their Fan Zone during the T20 series against South Africa earlier this year, Mansingh says the Cricket Cave is ready to tackle the ultimate challenge.

“We want to revive the appeal of Test cricket here in Jamaica, said Mansingh. We plan to transform the Upper North Stand (3rd floor) into a cricket-meets-entertainment extravaganza. We recognise that cricket no longer reigns supreme as Jamaica’s favourite sport, so we will be bridging the gap by incorporating elements that appeal to a wider audience.”

On the opening day, fans will be treated to a plethora of food options and drink specials, including ‘Happy Hours’ to keep spirits high. For football enthusiasts, there will be a Premier League watch-along featuring Arsenal vs West Ham.

Mansingh made it clear that his entity will leave no stone unturned as they have a little something for everyone.

“As the day winds down, the entertainment will shift to the Fan Zone with a domino tournament from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., followed by the ‘Windie Bashment’.” This lively event will feature a live DJ, an open bar, and a festive atmosphere to close out the first day in style.”

According to Mansingh, day two will bowl off with a delectable brunch menu, accompanied by bottomless mimosas to set the tone for a relaxed and enjoyable day. Football fans can gather once again for a watch-along of the much-anticipated Liverpool vs Manchester City clash. The domino tournament continues, providing another avenue for fans to engage and socialise.

For those juggling work and play, Cricket Cave will also introduce the ‘Work from Sabina Park’ initiative where fans can enjoy free, WI-Fi, charging stations, and enticing lunch specials, all while soaking in the ambience of live international cricket.

Another unique feature which Mansingh believes will be a huge favourite for young fans will be the cricket net in the stands, designed especially for children. Equipped with a softball and bat, young fans can play classic games like one bounce and bat-up and catch, all while watching their cricketing heroes in action on the field.
