The cricket fever is on once again and so is the season of betting. No matter where the matches happen, betting happens for each and every ball.
In the past, betting gangs who were luring Godavari districts’ youth into their trap, operating from Hyderabad was busted by Cyberabad police.

With Champions Trophy on, the situation is ‘back to normal’ for betting gangs. Instead of watching it as a sport, the betting fever has caught up with many in villages and cities.
The words ‘eating’, ‘playing’, ‘black and tree’ are being heard among betting circles. With the matches being played for a 19-day window, the bookies and punters are totally excited.

Bheemavaram, Aakivedu, Palakollu, Tanuku, Tadepalligudem, Jangareddygudem along with Hyderabad are hot targets for bookies from West Godavari district.
If one gets into the story, then the name of West Godavari emerges prominently, though Hyderabad is the main hub where the bookies operate from. There are instances when the bookies have got people to give thier houses or plots when they lost their bets. The bets varied from Rs 30 lakh to Rs 50 lakh in many cases. The whole gambling nexus runs into crores when the matches are on.

The youth in their greed to turn crorepatis overnight get addicted to gambling and even committed suicide after losing in many places in Godavari districts.
SP Adnan Nayeem Asmi of Bheemavaram has said that they were being vigilant of betting practices with the cricket season on. He said special teams were deployed to fish out betting gangs. He said counseling was provided for some bookies.
Those who indulged in betting in the past are under surveillance, he said. The SP requested people to dial 100 if they came to know about any betting activities.
