Could the WNBA come to Boston?
Could the WNBA come to Boston? Right now, the Boston Celtics are the only pro basketball team in the state of Massachusetts, but that might change in the future if Boston Women’s Basketball Partners — a group of advocates and potential investors for a WNBA team in Boston get their way.
The group, which reportedly includes Celtics superfan, actor and musician Donnie Wahlberg along with Hamilton, MA native Michael Carter-Williams, also has support from Boston Mayor Michelle Wu and state Governor Maura Healey, among many others. If the WNBA expands again in the near-term future, could this be the group that makes it happen in the Massachusetts metropolis?
