CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – At today’s regularly scheduled City Council meeting, City Manager Peter Zanoni highlighted The Firefly‘s success at Lozano Golf Center.
This innovative course, formerly the Executive 9-Hole, was redesigned and opened on July 2. It features a state-of-the-art lighting system, providing an exciting golf experience day and night.
The practice driving range also boasts new advancements, with 11,000 square feet dedicated to putting practice, 50 hitting stations, and a new “short game” area with chipping greens and bunkers. The extended evening hours have increased the course’s playable time by over 50 percent.
Notably, The Firefly course attracts more golfers without impacting the regular rounds at Lozano Golf Center’s Blue Heron or Oso Beach Golf Course.
Golfer Austin Arnold praised the course, saying, “Firefly was something to experience, and I will definitely be doing it again. The anticipation of night golf lives up to the hype. The Marshall, James, was extremely helpful and made the experience more enjoyable. I will be telling everyone I know to go play it.”
With ongoing support from the community, the Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department continues to enhance its sports attractions, such as The Firefly, drawing more players and delivering significant benefits.
BY THE NUMBERS (Financials 2022–2024)
