RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – Compassion Dental is 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission in 2024 is to provide free dental care to over 500 less fortunate adults who are suffering with dental disease, infection and severe oral pain but have no insurance and nowhere to turn for help. They are the only emergency dental clinic in Northern Nevada, even though over 10,000 non-traumatic dental emergencies entered our area hospital emergency rooms last year. Since there are no dentists in a hospital ER, they were treated with antibiotics or narcotics and sent on their way.
JS Parker, exec stopped by Morning Break to talk about why Compassion Dental is determined to provide life-saving urgent and emergent oral healthcare to the most vulnerable, uninsured, poor and indigent adults in Northern Nevada. There are currently over 85,000 adults who qualify for services at Compassion Dental’s free clinic, and they receive over 3,000 calls per year from those urgently seeking help.
One of the ways they are able to help people in the community is through donations. They are hosting a community golf tournament fundraiser Friday, Oct. 18 at Lakeridge Golf Course in Reno. Breakfast and check-in starts at 7 a.m. and wraps up around 2 p.m. with lunch and awards. Click here to sign up. You can also follow them on Facebook and Instagram to learn more.
