Family of Kyle Ediger hopes to build facility in his memory
Body
Fund-raising efforts have begun for a “comfort station” to be built at Poco Creek Golf Course in memory of Kyle Ediger.
The former Hampton teacher and coach enjoyed golfing and was a member of the local course, where he participated in both the Monday and Thursday men’s leagues. The Ediger family wanted to initiate a project they felt would address a need while honoring Kyle’s memory and love of golf.
“(Brothers) Jim and Craig loved golfing with Kyle,” noted Nicole Ediger, Kyle’s sister-in-law. “We wanted to do something in his memory on the golf course.”
What started out as an idea to dedicate a bench in Kyle’s honor evolved into a proposal that would address two needs at the course — air-conditioned bathrooms and a shelter on the southeast end of the course, far away from the clubhouse. The family shared details and an artist’s rendering of the project recently, which once funded and built would be known as the “Kyle Ediger Comfort Station.”
The project, as described in a brochure first distributed for a Saturday fund-raising tournament at Poco Creek, explains that the station would be located between the No. 4 green and No. 5 tee box. It is designed to offer an air-conditioned bathroom, a snack and beverage area with a serving window, as well as a covered parking area large enough for up to six golf carts.
