To the surprise of literally no one, especially after last night’s nearly nonexistent offensive showing, the Indianapolis Colts (4-5) will no longer be featured on Sunday Night Football for the team’s scheduled Week 11 road game on November 17th against the New York Jets (3-6):
Instead, the Colts-Jets ‘old AFC East’ rivalry game will be shown on CBS at 1 PM EST.
It makes sense, and it’s very hard to disagree with the decision from a showcase standpoint.
While the Colts and the Bengals share the same record at 4-5, the replacing matchup appears to be between two serious AFC playoff hopefuls, while the Colts and Jets appear to be both recently trending in the wrong direction—although New York did just upset the Houston Texans on Thursday Night Football.
The Bengals have superstar quarterback Joe Burrow, while the Colts can’t seem to fully commit on their starting quarterback going forward—and ‘when you have two starting quarterbacks, you have no quarterback.” Meanwhile, former Colts ‘Ring of Honor’ member Jim Harbaugh (i.e., Captain Comeback) has brought much needed energy and a competitive edge to the Chargers.
There admittedly just isn’t much of a national audience right now that wants to watch an immobile, aged Joe Flacco right now leading a Colts offense that’s struggling to consistently move the football and score points—especially against a “past-his-prime” Aaron Rodgers for the Jets.
