The 2025 NFL Draft process is underway. The NFL Combine, the marquee event, will begin later this month, on February 27th, in Indianapolis. The East-West Shrine Bowl just wrapped up on Thursday with the game’s conclusion, and the Senior Bowl will conclude this Saturday as well. However, that won’t stop the constant chatter among organizations across the NFL about what they’ve seen so far and who they have their eyes on.

While not participating in the East-West Shrine Bowl, Colorado’s quarterback Shedeur Sanders did make an appearance there, where he was seen talking with the New York Giants and Tennessee Titans. With both teams needing a quarterback heading into next season, Sanders and Miami’s Cam Ward are the perceived two top options.

In terms of the Tennessee Titans, their head coach and former offensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals Brian Callahan, spoke with ESPN’s Turron Davenport at the Senior Bowl in Mobile and compared Sanders to one of the NFL’s elite quarterbacks.

“People had questions about Burrow’s arm strength in general coming out,” Callahan said. “One of the things that makes Joe so unique, and I think you can probably put Shedeur in the same conversation. … They anticipate when they throw it, they have the timing and accuracy on top of it. That makes up for the arm strength.”

Callahan didn’t provide a direct comparison of Sanders to Burrow, but he does see the ability to anticipate throws like Burrow in Sanders. While Burrow wasn’t praised for having great arm strength coming out of LSU for the 2020 NFL Draft, he did complete 76.3% of his passes in his final collegiate season en route to throwing 60 touchdown passes.

Sanders can’t say the same in terms of statistics from last season with Colorado, but Callahan has a point when seeing the slight comparison between the two quarterbacks. During Callahan’s tenure as offensive coordinator with the Bengals, he helped Burrow throw for 34 or more touchdowns in consecutive seasons while leading the team to a Super Bowl in the 2021 season. The Titans have plenty of time before they need to decide on their first overall pick, but Callahan might just have his eyes set on Sanders.
