On Auburn’s first possession in quadruple overtime quarterback Payton Thorne connected with Penn State transfer wide receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith, who made an acrobatic catch for a successful 2-point conversion.
Texas A&M’s quarterback Marcel Reed failed to connect with Amari Daniels on the next play, ending the game.
Eleswhere, No. 5 Indiana’s undefeated season came to an end at the hands of No. 2 Ohio State, Florida upended No. 9 Ole Miss, No. 14 BYU as turned away by No. 21 Arizona State, No. 15 Colorado fell to Kansas and Oklahoma dominated No. 7 Alabama.
No. 3 Texas was able to avoid the upset bug, holding off Kentucky 31-14. Texas and Texas A&M meet next week in the first iteration of the The Lone Star Showdown in12 years. The winner punches its ticket to face Georgia in the SEC Championship Game.
