With the College Football Playoff on bye this week, bowl games will center stage this week in college football.

The first game of the day, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina between Coastal Carolina and UTSA in the Myrtle Beach Bowl. Led by quarterback Owen McCown, the son of former NFL quarterback Josh McCown, the Roadrunners will hope to advance to 7-6 on the season against the Chanticleers (6-6).

The other bowl game taking place on Monday is the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl between Northern Illinois and Fresno State at 1:30 p.m. CT on the “Smurf Turf” at Boise State’s Albertsons Stadium.

Northern Illinois, who came up with one of the biggest upsets this season in Week 2 against Notre Dame, enters Monday’s Famous Idaho Potato Bowl with a 3-2 all-time record against Fresno State. Both the Huskies and Bulldogs last played in the 2010 Humanitarian Bowl, the previous name of the Idaho Potato Bowl.
