US LBM Coaches Poll: Georgia falls to Alabama, Texas becomes new No. 1
The latest US LBM Coaches Poll is here and Georgia no longer sits at the top after a stunning loss to Alabama in week 5.

The Southeastern Conference dominated the top five of national polls through the first five weeks of the 2024 college football season.
That will no longer be the case following a wild Week 6 that saw two of the conference’s top three teams upset on the road.

The biggest shocker of all came in Nashville, where unbeaten, top-ranked Alabama fell 40-35 to Vanderbilt, which dominated the time of possession 42:08 to Alabama’s 17:52. The Crimson Tide never led in the game, which became Vanderbilt’s first ever victory over an AP No. 1 team in 61 tries.
Elsewhere in the state, Josh Heupel and the Vols had arguably their worst offensive performance of the season as Arkansas downed No. 4 Tennessee 19-14 to give the team its first loss of the season. That’s to say nothing of No. 9 Missouri, which was the first team to drop from the ranks of the unbeaten after getting dominated 41-10 by No. 21 Texas A&M in College Station.
