WATCH: Penn State football HC James Franklin after loss to Ohio State
Franklin’s losing streak to Ohio State continues as the Nittany Lions suffer their first loss of the season.
The Big Ten was at the center of the college football world in Week 10, and the conference’s biggest games didn’t disappoint.
No. 4 Ohio State traveled out to No. 3 Penn State — a game that had a significant impact on the national rankings and College Football Playoff — and walked out of hostile Beaver Stadium with a 20-13 win. With that, Ryan Day and the Buckeyes (7-1, 4-1 Big Ten) redeemed themselves of an earlier season loss in a top-five matchup to then-No. 3 Oregon.
Conversely, the loss extends Penn State’s (7-1, 4-1 Big Ten) losing skid to Ohio State to eight straight, and puts James Franklin’s record vs. ranked teams in the spot light yet again. That said, the Nittany Lions‘ hopes of making the CFP aren’t completely diminished in the 12-team era.
Behind big days from Dillon Gabriel and Jordan James, Oregon (9-0, 6-0) defended its No. 1 ranking in both polls by taking down Michigan (5-4, 3-3) by a score of 38-17 at The Big House. No. 13 Indiana (9-0) also kept its undefeated season alive by winning at Michigan State/ Curt Cignetti’s Hoosiers could be a top-10-ranked team heading into next week’s game vs. the Wolverines.
Here’s a look at how this past week’s results within the Big Ten were reflected in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll and AP Top 25 poll on Sunday:
