Just two weeks remain in the 2024 college football regular season after another intense week in Week 12 on Saturday.
The Big 12 Conference remains in overall good shape to send its champion to the 12-team College Football Playoff. And there was perhaps no bigger win in the conference than No. 20 Colorado (8-2, 6-1 in Big 12 play), not only for the Buffaloes‘ win, but also because of No. 8 BYU, which lost its first game of the 2024 season.
The Buffaloes picked up a 49-24 victory at home over Utah, with Travis Hunter continuing to build his robust Heisman Trophy candidacy with a strong performance: (five catches for 55 yards, one 5-yard rushing touchdown and one interception).
Conversely, the Cougars (9-1, 6-1) dropped their first game of the season with a 17-13 loss to the Jayhawks. Colorado will play Kansas in Week 13 before finishing its season vs. Oklahoma State.
Elsewhere in Big 12 play, No. 19 Kansas State dropped its third game of the season, all against conference foes, with a 24-14 defeat by visiting Arizona State. With that, the Sun Devils have all but eliminated the Wildcats from Big 12 title game contention while keeping their own hopes alive.
Likewise, No. 25 Iowa State (8-2, 5-2) stopped its two-game losing skid with a 34-17 victory over Cincinnati. Here’s how those games, and more, affected the Week 13 US LBM Coaches Poll and AP Top 25:
