College football lovers, diehard dreamers and Hail Mary screamers, it’s time to take the 6-0 Challenge.
We have winners every week, but last week set a record for the 6-0 Challenge. It looks like were all getting a little smarter together as this season progresses. Except, Joe, of course. Joe’s brain is made of Peeps marshmallow filler, peanut butter and the ghost of 2019 Bo Nix. Joe went 1-5 against the spread for Week 5 of the season.
As for everyone else, we’ve got some genuine, Grade-A certified college-football geniuses to celebrate. We had about 900 entries for the 6-0 Challenge last week, and a whole host of winners. One of Joe’s favorite developments of the 6-0 Challenge as our little community begins to take shape has been the ever-growing creativity of the given handles for his fellow sports donks.
For example, one 6-0 winner last week went by the name Pangaea Unification Consortium. Joe doesn’t know what that means exactly, but we’re working on answers.
New rule for the 6-0 Challenge. Joe will print the names of the winners every Friday, but the tiebreaker for the Ultimate Sports Donk of the 6-0 Challenge presented by Joe vs. the Pro and the Hero will come down to who gives the best handle. [BANGS GAVEL]
Congrats to our new crew of college football geniuses for Week 5 of the football season. Cheers all around to Barry Henderson, Patrick Moran, Noonz, Shawn Turner, HotRod, Joseph Martin, Bulldog7205, Chris, Pcbama, Jerry Horton, Threeputt, AU Turner, Chowhall, Jimmy, Pangaea Unification Consortium, Bama Boy, Chris4Tide, Beauregard Barry and Jerry Boykin.
This Saturday’s slate of games feels like one of those dates on the fall calendar when maximum chaos can hit when we least expect it. Can Ryan Williams, Jalen Milroe and Alabama avoid a letdown game? Can Georgia bounce back against Auburn or are the Tigers finally going to put together a complete game?
And what about Ole Miss? Are the Rebel Land Shark Black Bears college football’s greatest frauds? South Carolina looms.
It’s time to make your picks for Week 5 of the 6-0 Challenge presented by Joe vs. the Pro and the Hero.
It’s Joe vs. the Pro and Hero … vs. You!
Joe vs. the Pro and the Hero is the beloved pick’ems feature that runs every week on AL.com during the college football season. Readers can now get in on the action by making your picks against the spread, too. The Pro is on a heater, going 13-5 against the spread over the last three weeks.
Go 6-0 and get your name in lights as a certified college football genius. Everyone who goes 6-0 gets their name in the paper and in Sports Donk Joe Goodman’s weekly newsletter, SPORTS! Happy Hour. Subscribe to the newsletter by entering your email address here. Everyone drinks for free at SPORTS! Happy Hour. Good luck, and remember, the picks are against the spread.
