Coco Gauff has laid bare how Taylor Fritz is always vocal when playing mixed doubles tennis. Her honest take came in the aftermath of her and Fritz’s crucial mixed doubles win over Canada’s Leylah Fernandez and Felix Auger-Aliassime in the group stage of the ongoing 2025 United Cup in Perth, Australia.

Fritz had lost his singles match against Auger-Aliassime, handing Canada a 1-0 advantage. However, Gauff leveled things up with a dominant display against Fernandez. Ultimately, the Americans successfully paired up to defeat the Canadian duo. As things stand, team USA leads Group A.

During Gauff and Fritz’s post-match, on-court interview, the former was asked if the latter is a ‘chatty doubles partner’.

“Yeah, he is,” Gauff replied. (at 0:52)

“I don’t shut up,” Fritz chimed in.

Coco Gauff went on to say that she isn’t used to playing doubles with partners who talk a lot. However, she revealed that she had kept her and Taylor Fritz’s mixed doubles experience at the 2024 Paris Olympics in mind in the buildup to their United Cup campaign. Gauff also lauded Fritz over how the latter “sees the game”.

“He talks a lot. I’m not used to it, but after playing at the Olympics I was mentally prepared for it and yeah, he made some good calls so I trust his opinion. I’m always asking him what he thinks, so I trust it a lot. I feel like he sees the game really well, so I’m learning from him out here.”

Later, both players’ delight after edging Canada of the mixed-team tennis event made its way to social media. In one of the posts, Fritz hilariously suggested that Team USA’s winning performance against Canada came solely due to Gauff’s efforts.

The official Instagram handle of the United Cup shared a video of Coco Gauff and Taylor Fritz as an Instagram Story. In the video, Fritz hilariously stated that Gauff’s “carrying” him at the 2025 United Cup. The 2024 US Open men’s singles runner-up also looked forward to facing Croatia in the next round.

“What’s up, guys! Just clinched the match for Team USA. Coco’s carrying me. Yeah, we’re ready for the next round,” Fritz said.

Gauff though, was more interested in getting some rest to prepare for their matches against the Croatians. In singles, the 2023 US Open women’s singles champion will face Donna Vekic while Fritz is set to lock horns against Borna Coric. In mixed doubles, Gauff and Fritz will team up once more, with Vekic and Ivan Dodig slated to be their opponents.
