Fans eagerly anticipate Naomi Osaka’s fourth main draw debut at this year’s China Open. Simply because of her remarkable victory in the tournament back in 2019. Her return to competitive tennis is highly anticipated and significant. This time, though, it’s especially symbolic because it will be her first performance in Beijing, as a mother.
Former world No. 1 Naomi Osaka had trouble finding her form before leaving for Asia. She only made it to the second round of the US Open and Toronto Open qualifying, and she was eliminated in the Cincinnati qualifying rounds. Osaka defeated Jelena Ostapenko in her opening round in New York, but she struggled in her subsequent match and lost in straight sets against Karolina Muchova.
The 26-year-old expressed her disappointment, admitting, “It’s a little rough because I take these losses personally… it feels like my heart dies every time I lose.” Osaka has performed well in Beijing in the past, making it to the quarterfinals in 2018 and taking home the championship in 2019.

They were anxious to watch the American star in action before beginning her Asian swing in Beijing. As usual, the 20-year-old generously signed autographs for the Chinese audience after practice. One admirer, though, made an exceptionally audacious request: asking Gauff to autograph his laptop.
