The Crookston Pirate Girls Tennis team had six girls competing in the Section 8A Individual Tennis tournament at Fargo Courts Plus on Friday. Two are advancing to the Section semi-finals on Saturday.
DOUBLES –
A pair of seniors, Addie Fee and Kaylee Clauson, are the #2 seed and beat Rachel Ulvin/Kate Dravis (Park Rapids) 6-2, 7-5 in the first round. The Pirate duo played a much better quarter-final match, beating Heidi Zimmerman and Madison Perius (Staples-Motley) 6-2, 6-4.
Clauson and Fee will play Anna Fiemeyer/Kaylee Endres (WDC) in the semi-finals on Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
The other Pirate doubles team of Georgia Sanders and Ashlyn Bailey beat Natalie Hanson-Kaylee Perius (Staples-Motley) 6-4, 6-1 in the first round. Sanders and Bailey lost to Piper Greene/Brianne Ellison (TRF) 6-4, 6-3) in the quarter-finals and were eliminated.
SINGLES –
Paige Abrahamson lost her first-round match to Bailey Strunk (Roseau) 6-3, 6-1 and was eliminated.
Ava Martin lost her first-round match to Braylee Wienen (TRF) 6-1, 6-2, and was eliminated.
