Udupi: A dispute over a cricket match led to two separate cases being registered at the Kundapur Rural police station after both parties involved accused each other of threats and assault.
In one complaint, Satish, 41, a resident of Katta Belturu village, alleged that while he was sitting near his shop on Sunday and watching a cricket match being played on a nearby ground, Akshay, who was known to him, approached and allegedly threatened to kill him. He alleged that it was Satish who said that he should not be given a chance to bowl in the cricket match. Akshay then allegedly assaulted Satish with a wooden stick. Players intervened to stop the attack, but Akshay allegedly continued issuing threats before leaving.
In another case, Akshay, 26, claimed that while he was watching the match, Satish told others not to allow him to play, saying that he did not bowl properly. Upon hearing this, Akshay approached Satish and questioned his interference. In response, Satish allegedly abused him, pushed him, and assaulted him. The public present there stepped in to stop the attack, but Satish allegedly threatened him before leaving. Akshay later sought medical attention and was admitted to the hospital.
Both cases have been registered at Kundapur Rural police station. An investigation is on.
