MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Clarke County High School’s head football coach under investigation by the sheriff’s office there was picked up in Niceville, Fla., as a fugitive from justice.
Sheriff Dewayne Smith said Robert Carter is wanted on 11 warrants out of Clarke County.
Smith tells us the sheriff’s office, the Grove Hill Police Department, and the 1st Judicial Major Crimes Task Force is investigating an allegation involving Carter, but isn’t saying what he’ll be charged with out of Grove Hill yet.
Carter has been head coach in Grove Hill for the past two years. Before that he was in Sylacauga as head football coach.
Smith said the school has implemented precautions to ensure students are safe while they investigate.
