The Chiefs listed defensive tackle Chris Jones as questionable to play in their Christmas game against the Steelers, but it looks like they will have to go without him in Pittsburgh on Wednesday.
Jones strained his calf in last Saturday’s win over the Texans and multiple reports on Wednesday indicate that he is not expected to be in the lineup for the AFC West champs. Jones was listed as out of practice on Sunday and Monday before moving up to a limited listing on Tuesday.
The Chiefs will go with Tershawn Wharton, Mike Pennel, and Derrick Nnadi up front if Jones is out of action.
A win over the Steelers will guarantee the Chiefs will be the top seed in the AFC. That will give them a bye in the first round of the playoffs and it will be interesting to see how they’d handle any injured players with an extended break on both sides of Week 18.
